Morocco: M'Hamid and Vicinity

Chez Pasha, home for two nights.

Hand of Fatima on a door.
***************************
These views of the edge of the vast Sahara give a taste of the variety of features in this barren place near M'Hamid. But finally there are places on the Sahara called "featureless plain" on maps, days beyond anything you see here. That there is anything green at all here at M'Hamid means there is water beneath, or occasional rain.
And, amazingly, still there are birds here, migrants passing through, hundreds or thousands of miles behind them and more ahead, or permanent residents who make a living filling some small niche in the ecosystem.
These hobbled camels are owned and tended by a herder living somewhere nearby.

 Algeria in the distance.
