Andean Condor at Rosamond Gifford Zoo

Our single Andean condor always causes me to stop and contemplate its brothers and sisters, flying thousands of feet above ground, scaring the heck out of and causing wonder in high altitude pilots. One reference I found says condors can fly to 15,000 feet.

Their California condor cousins are making a strong comeback now after near-extintion. They can quite easily be seen at the Grand Canyon, where they have successfully nested in the past decade.

All these fantastic gliding birds are carrion eaters who can spot a meal from miles away.

I like turkey vultures too!

Horse Dentistry at Tanglewood

Look at the horse's eyes. This man is rasping her molars!
He is a horse whisperer. They trust him completely. If they are confused, he waits and talks to them. He is utterly confident, and they know he will never hurt them. They just know it! I was transfixed.
He has his whole set up in a small truck. He travels to the horses.
I can get his name if anyone wants it.

Afternoon Dip for an Amur Tiger

This playful cat basks in the water and stalks his brother. They were born here two years ago. Their sister and mother are in the yard on alternate days from these boys. Dad is out every day in an adjacent enclosure. How about those kitty whiskers!
