Stillwater, Lightly Iced

The coves in the Flow are lightly iced over. Paddling through it is lovely, like breaking glass, so thin, and any thicker would become a problem. Above, we, Brenner and I, paddled through open water to Chicken Island and hugged the shore to the pebbly beach. Because there has been so much rain, the level is up and there is a yard of open water along the shore.

After our hour on Williams Island much of the ice had sunk or been blown away by the south wind. We paddled to open water through the ice in the bottom picture.
