Double Check

Double Check by John Seward Johnson II rests at the northwest corner of Zuccotti Park, across the street from the massive World Trade Center site.

Originally the sculpture sat in the plaza of the World Trade Center towers. It was recovered from the September 11, 2001 wreckage and needed minimal repairs before reappearing nearby.

We learned that in Jersey City, across the Hudson River and within view of the World Trade Center site, is a similar sculpture by Mr. Johnson called Makeshift Memorial, cast later with the addition of bronzed items including bouquets of flowers that had been left with Double Check.

  1. It's remarkable that it survived that day. I like the look of it.
