Catskill Mountain House is gone. Evidence remains of a coronet band and a skilled stone mason.
The Mountain House stood at the brink of the escarpment in front of the Catskills
that faces east toward the Hudson River and beyond.
Wikipedia has information and old photos of the hotel and links to other sites about the North-South Lake area.
People came by stagecoach and by a train that came straight up the escarpment: http://www.catskillarchive.com/otis/index.htm
What views they had back in the day.
