Algonquin Provincial Park: Beaver Pond Trail

6 comments:

  1. One of my favourite trails in the park. The chipmunks are certainly keeping busy this time of year.

I remember once coming up upon a snapping turtle resting on the trail near the dam. I had to wait til he left.

The view from the top of the cliff, of course, is amazing.

    1. We did this trail first, as a warm up, with our friends from Germany. I'm posting a different trail each day. We had a glorious week: Mizzy Lake, Bat Lake, Big Pine and more, plus canoeing, a fast ride on Oneongo, and witness to some intriguing first-timer canoeists over lunch at the Portage Store. Enjoy!!!

    2. I can see how Centennial Ridges, which is my favourite trail in the park, might be a bit too much for a hike.

    3. We did consider it but deemed it a bit much after the day on Mizzy Lake Trail. Our friends were still game, but they are young! Alas. Thanks for your many comments. I appreciate them all. By the way, we were in Ottawa for an overnight at the end of the trip. I keep my eye out for you but no luck yet!

  3. Jut popping over from William's blog. I remember this trail well. My parent were here from England, we visited this trail one evening, we waited patiently and were rewarded with seeing a family of beavers. It was such a special memory.
