New York Telephone: Pre-1984 Pole ID Tags and Detachable Step Base

Formed January 1, 1984, as a result of the breakup of the Bell System,
NYNEX was a regional Bell operating company made up of former AT&T subsidiaries
New York Telephone and New England Telephone.

Photographed in a parking lot behind several buildings right in the city.

They prevented "random people"[so called in The Garage Journal]
such as me and other kids from climbing telephone poles in my old neighborhood.
The regular steps started 10 or so feet from the ground.
