Large Hubbard Squash and Brenner's Sidelong Glance
We won this magnificent Hubbard squash in a silent auction at the annual meeting of Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust, held at Tug Hill Vineyards near Lowville last Friday.
Brenner wonders why he is in the photo.

Stone Arch Bridge in Florence, NY
So delicate, a perfectly executed arch.
The way across it leads from a secondary road up the hill to the Graves Cemetery (really) and splitting off from that another woods road up to a farm field behind the cemetery.
The bridge sees very little use, and that is fortunate. If you look closely at the second photo, you can see that part of the arch toward the downstream side is slumping. Nothing has fallen from it yet, but it feels fragile. The vibrations from snow machines or ATVs might wear at it. Also, the way is not fenced from the road, and so an automobile could conceivably attempt to drive across it.
I have research to do. The only thing I can find about the bridge is actually a careful list of the people buried in the Graves Cemetery. I will contact the Florence Historical Society if there is one, and Camden, Rome and Oneida County Historical Societies, too. Someone must know the history.
It is a treasure built by a very, very skilled stone builder.

"...if you need proof that I can make a lot of aimless noise
while moving around and waving my arms for an extended period of time..."
...absolutely brilliant!

Finals, 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship: Iroquois Nationals v. Canada
This final, 46th game of the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship took place at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse on Sunday afternoon, September 27, after 10 days of play and 45 games between 11 teams. In the final game the Iroquois Nationals played Canada.
As the playing week progressed, many folks became convinced that the final game would be between these two great teams. Canada has never been beaten in this annual competition ever. The Iroquois Nationals are strong and could conceivably overcome Canada this year.
The crowd in the Carrier Dome was overwhelmingly purple!
These photos do not show play but the ceremony following the game. It was a precious moment.
Canada won 12-8. No one has anything to feel bad about. It was a spectacular game! US came in third; Israel came in fourth.
