Thrift and Waste on Syracuse Trust Building

The facade of this old bank building on a central block of Salina St. has never been covered.

Modernization of many neighboring fronts extinguished most of what made Syracuse and many other cities' main thoroughfares interesting. What a bad idea that was. The tinmen made a bucket of money; we were left with somebody's idea that a new facade would solve the problem of how to keep downtowns relevant.

Finding treasures like these makes a trip downtown interesting.

  1. amazing what is visible in our town by looking up. when we were getting the year book together years ago we had the photograper take pictures of the structural and decorative elements of Central as they are so beautiful. Thank you Merry for having such a loving eye for Syracuse.
