Fairbanks Scales, First of Two
The Downtown Committee held a new-housing tour over the weekend.
I found two Fairbanks scales along the way, one here at the old Hurbson Building, and the other (to be posted tomorrow) in the Krell Building, also known as the Herald Building.
Fairbanks Scales were manufactured in St. Johnsbury VT. The company still exists, but elsewhere and in a very different form. There is an interesting history of the company here.
