Clever Squirrel

Only one of our squirrel cluster knows how to get past the baffle and up into the cage. It is so much at rest, leaning back and eating to its heart's content. The others are on the ground scavenging.

Dog in Window

If you followed me in St. Louis, you know I love to photograph dogs in windows.

This dog was curled up and napping in its window on a ledge outside the drapes, 6 feet off the ground with the street and nearby corner its domain. It lives on a fairly busy area for both autos and foot traffic.

Nothing disturbed its nap until I came by and STOPPED. Up popped its head and it went on alert. It woofed, not loudly but certainly putting me on notice that I was being watched. I snapped the picture and went on.
I think it noticed me especially because I was looking right at it when it popped up. Would it have relaxed again if I were looking the other way? That's a test for another day.

R House

Recently built in the near-West side, the R House was an award winner even before it was built. "You can heat it with a hair dryer." Google it for more information. We are told it will be open the same day as the Downtown Housing tour later this spring.
These are the north and east sides. The west and south sides have most of the windows.

Cobblestone Architecture: Valley Drive

Glaciers left us with this building material, and cobblestones have been used with beautiful results all over New York State. This house is next to the famous Duck Pond. There is a great deal of documentation including the Landmark Society's site, linked just below the photographs.

Grasse River: Rainbow Falls on Tooley Pond Road

Snowshoed in, less than a half mile; well worth the small effort; the Adirondacks are just beginning to show signs of spring on this mild sunny day.
